AN INDIANAPOLIS MAN CHARGED WITH KILLING A 7-YEAR-OLD GIRL
Indiana State Police say Robert Kearney II, 28, is charged with killing 7-year-old Zoe Martin in a reckless driving accident. Kearney, who was driving on a suspended license allegedly tried to pay a tow truck driver with a controlled substance.
Robert was caught leaving the scene of the accident that causes the death of 7-year-old Zoe Martin. At the time Robert was also facing a misdemeanor charge of possession of a look-alike substance. This crash took place on Oct 13 a little bit afternoon in the area of I-465 near Allisonville Road. The 7-year-old Zoe Martin suffered many injuries in the crash and died seven days later at Riley Hospital.
Robert was driving 75 mph when his car hit the rear of the Explorer which had Zoe Martin of the Fort Explorer in the backseat. When the force of Robert’s car hit the car that Zoe was in it cause that Fort Explore to crash into a third vehicle.
Police stated that they believe Kearney was driving recklessly moments before the crash, and he continues to drive after the crash while trying to flee. His car was damaged so badly that he couldn’t get far, he offered a controlled substance to a tow truck driver as payment for towing his disabled truck.
Kearney was charged with the following crimes:
- Reckless Homicide(Level 5 Felony)
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Death(Level 5 Felony)
- Possession a Look-Alike Substance(Class C Misdemeanor)
The suspect was was taken into custody on January 31st, he also had an outstanding warrant for theft in Johnson County.
